Healing and Health

Physical   Emotional   Mental

The Bible teaches that good sound health, healing, and wellness in every respect, is always the will of God for His children.

“Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.”
– 3 John 1:2 KJV

God made covenants with His people to heal them (Exodus 15:26; Ex. 23:23; Leviticus 26; Deuteronomy 28; Isaiah 53; Matthew 8:17; 1 Peter 2:24; James 5:14-16).

Discovering how you and your family can be well is a challenging yet rewarding journey. We believe that you’ll find relief in the sound, clear, practical information on this site ... helping to make your journey simpler.

36 Facts About Sickness and Healing

1.        Health was natural and eternal before “the fall” of Adam & Eve  (Gen. 1:26-31; 2:17)

2.        Healing is always the will of God for His people who may: "ask what ye will" (Jn. 15:7); "whatsoever" (Mt. 21:22; Jn. 14:12-15; 15:16); "anything" (Jn. 14:14); "what things soever ye desire" Mk. 11:22-24); and "much more" than earthly parents would or could give their children (Mt. 7:7-11)

3.        Healing can naturally be expected as part of the infinite care of God over His children (Mt. 6:10; 7:7-11; 17:20; 21:22; Mk. 9:23; 11:22-24; Lk. 11:1-13; 18:1-18; Jn. 14:12-15; 15:7, 16; 16:23-26; Heb. 11:6; Jas. 1:4-8; 5:14-16)

4.        The first prophecy and promise of redemption included healing (Gen. 3:15; Isa. 53:5; Mt. 8:16-17; 1 Pet. 2:24)

5.        The first recorded healing was by the prayer of a prophet (Gen. 20:7-17)

6.        Healing is in fulfillment of prophecy (Isa. 35; 53; 61:1-2; Mt. 8:17; Acts 10:38; 1 Pet. 2:24; Mt. 13:15)

7.        Healing is provided as part of Christ's atonement (Isa. 53:4-5; Mt. 8:16-17; 13:14-15; Jn. 3:14; 10:10; Rom. 1:16; 8:11; 1 Cor. 11:23-32; Gal. 3:13; Jas. 5:14-16; 1 Pet. 2:24; 3 Jn. 2). Cp. Ex. 15:26; Ps. 91; 103:3)

8.        Healing is part of the children's bread and their promised right by virtue of redemption (Mt. 7:7-11; 15:22-28; 17:20; 21:22; Mk. 9:23; 11:22-24; Lk. 13:16; Jn. 3:14-16; 14:12-15; 15:7, 16; 16:23-26; 1 Jn. 3:8, 20-22; 5:14-15; 3 Jn. 2)

9.        Y’shua (Jesus) proved His Sonship by healing all men (Mt 4:23-24; 11:3-6; Lk. 4:16-2 1; Acts 10:38; 1 Jn. 3:8)

10.    Christ came to redeem from both sin and sickness (Isa. 53; 61:1-2; Mt. 8:17; 9:5; Gal. 3:13; Rom. 8:11; Acts 10:38; 1 Pet. 2:24; 1 Jn. 3:8). (God is love.  -1 John 4:7-8,16)

11.    Every disciple called and sent by Christ was given power to heal (Mt. 10:1-8; Mk. 6:7-13; Lk. 10:1-21; Acts 1:8)

12.    Y’shua (Jesus) commanded His disciples to become endued with power to heal before they went out (Lk. 24:49; Acts. 1:4-8)

13.    All disciples throughout this age are commanded to observe the same commands Christ gave the first disciples (Mt. 28:20; Acts 1:4-8; Mk. 16:15-20)

14.    Early disciples did confirm the Word by healing (Mk. 16:15-20; Acts 2:43; 3:1-12; 5:2-16; 6:8; 8:7-13; 11:19-22; 14:3, 27; 15:4, 12; 19:11-12; 28:9; Rom. 15:18-19, 29; 1 Cor. 16:10; Phil. 1:7; 1 Th. 2:13; Heb. 2:3-4)

15.    Jesus promised every believer, not only ministers, power to do the works that He did (Mt. 17:20; 21:22; Mk. 9:23; 11:22-24; 16:15-20; Jn. 14:12-15; 15:7, 16; 16:23-26; Acts 1:4-8)

16.    Healing proves the resurrection of Christ and the descent of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:4-8; 2:33; 3:16; 4:12; Rom. 8:11)

17.    The Holy Spirit was sent into the world to carry on the healing ministry (Acts 1:1-8; 2:33; 1 Cor. 12; Heb. 2:3-4)

18.    Gifts of healing and other gifts are promised as the spiritual equipment of the church (1 Cor. 1:7; 12:1-11; Rom. 1:11; 12:6-8; 15:18-19, 29; Heb. 2:3-4). (God is love.  -1 John 4:7-8,16)

19.    Healing is part of the work of the church (Mt. 10:1-8; Lk. 10:1-21; 24:49; Acts 1:1-8; 1 Cor. 12; Jas. 5:14-16)

20.    Healing is one of the signs of the gospel to follow believers (Mk. 16:15-20)

21.    Healing was not only for the Old Testament days (Ex. 15:26; Ps. 91; 103:3) and for the Millennium (Isa. 30:26; 33:24; 35:1-10). It is also for this age, or the gospel is faulty and the new covenant less than the old one (Mt. 8:17; 21:22; Mk. 9:23; 11:22-24; 16:15-20; Jn. 14:12-15; 15:7, 16; 2 Cor. 3:6-15; 1 Cor. 12:1-11; Heb. 2:3-4). (God is love.  -1 John 4:7-8,16)

22.    Healing proves that God's promises are true (2 Cor. 1:20. See above point)

23.    Healing is part of salvation, for the Hebrew and Greek words for salvation all imply the ideas of forgiveness, healing, health, and full deliverance from the curse (Rom. 1: 16; Gal. 3:13; 1 Pet. 2:24). (God is love.  -1 John 4:7-8,16)

24.    Both death and sickness originated with sin and are now being propagated by Satan (Rom. 5:12-21; Job. 2:6-7; Lk. 13:16; Jn. 10:10; Acts 10:38; 1 Jn. 3:8)

25.    The first-recorded bodily affliction came through wrongdoing (Gen. 20:1-18)

26.    God made covenants with His people to heal them (Ex. 15:26; Ex. 23:23; Lev. 26; Dt. 28; Mt. 8:17; 1 Pet. 2:24; Jas. 5:14-16). (God is love.  -1 John 4:7-8,16)

27.    God has always kept His covenants and has healed multitudes by spiritual means (Ps. 103:3: 105:37; 107:20; Acts 10:38). (God is love.  -1 John 4:7-8,16)

28.    Spiritual means to heal is all that God promised and commanded (Ex. 15:26; Ps. 91; Isa. 58; Mt. 8:17; 13:15; Jas. 5:14-16; 1 Pet. 2:24). (God is love.  -1 John 4:7-8,16)

29.    Spiritual means were used in the wilderness by Israel (Ex. 15:26; Num. 11:1-3; 12:13-16; 21:1-9; Jn. 3:14)

30.    Healing was promised on condition of obedience (Lev. 26; Dt. 28; Ex. 15:26; Ps. 91; Isa. 58: Jas. 5:14-16). (God is love.  -1 John 4:7-8,16)

31.    God permits Satan to afflict sinners and even His own people when they go astray, to bring them to repentance (Job 33:12-30; Ps. 38; 103:3; Num. 12:13-16; 21:9; 1 Cor. 5:1-5; 2 Cor. 2:6-11; Gal. 6:7-8)

32.    God always healed when lessons were learned and man repented (Gen. 20:7, 17; Num. 11:2; 12:13-16; 21:1-9; Job 33:12-30; 42:1-12; Ps. 103:3; Jas. 5:14-15). (God is love.  -1 John 4:7-8,16)

33.    Health as well as healing was promised when man met certain conditions (Ex. 15:26; Lev. 26; Dt. 28; Ps. 91; Pr. 3:1-8; 12:18; 13:3; 15:4; 18:8, 21; Isa. 58; Jas, 5:14-16; 1 Pet. 3:10-11; 3 Jn. 2). (God is love.  -1 John 4:7-8,16)

34.    There is no case recorded in the Scriptures where people got benefits from any other source than by spiritual means and no Scripture encourages human remedies to cure disease (Ps 103:1-4;Ps 107:20; Matt. 8:17; 1 Peter 2:24). (God is love.  -1 John 4:7-8,16)

35.    Healing is on the same basis as forgiveness of sins—obedience, prayer and faith (Mt. 9:1-7; 13:15; 21:22; Acts 28:27; Jas. 1:4-8; 5:14-16; Heb. 11:6). (God is love.  -1 John 4:7-8,16)

36.    God has provided all necessary spiritual means of healing and complete defeat of satanic powers (2 Cor. 10:4-5; Eph. 6:10-18; Mk. 16:15-20; Jn. 14:12-15; Jas. 4:7; 5:14-16; 1 Pet. 2:24; 5:7-9). (God is love.  -1 John 4:7-8,16)

Thus it is clear in Scripture that bodily healing is provided for in the Old and New Testaments. The New Testament is based upon better promises than the Old Testament (Heb. 8:6).

The Mind–Body Connection

Health or disease is a spiritual condition that manifests in the physical body (generally through thought), and God has always healed by spiritual means. Spiritual means to heal is what God commands. Therefore anything other would be bondage, and counterfeit. (Isa. 30:1-3)

The counterfeit can "show great signs and wonders;” insomuch that, if possible, it shall deceive the very "elect" (2 Cor. 11:14; Eph. 4:14; Col. 2:8; 2 Thess. 2:8-12; 1 Tim. 4:1-8; 1 John 4:1-6; Rev. 9:20; 13:1-18; 16:13-16; 19:20). It can also use clergy (Jer 6:13,14; Lm. 2:14).

Whether the “treatment” works or not is not the criteria (Isa. 30:1-3; 5:20-21; Pv. 14:12; 16:2; Mt. 24:24; 2 Cor. 11:14; Eph. 4:14; Col. 2:8). We cannot separate the practice from the spirituality: A Christian practitioner of a counterfeit modality does not change the modality to a Christian one, as seen in the above Scriptures.

Pharmaceuticals

In Gal. 5:19-21, the author declares that the ‘works of the flesh’ includes ‘witchcraft’ (v.20). The original Greek word for ‘witchcraft’ is ‘Pharmakeia’ = medication. Why? Because this does not restore our part of God’s covenant of health, noted in Points 30 – 34 above. God wants to bless us! Reactions to prescription medications is presently the fourth leading cause of death in the U.S.

Where to get help with getting healing from God and how to be in health  (3 John 1:2)

God’s Pathway to Healing and Health

Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Acts tell of the power and the will of God—in spite of sin—to heal through the many recorded miracles, signs, and wonders. God's pathway for healing was created when Y’shua (Jesus) bore our sicknesses in His body on the cross (Matt. 4:23-24; 8:16-17; 12:15; 14:14; 14:36; Lk. 4:40-41; 6:17-19; Acts 10:38; 5:12-16).

Healing Through Purification (Sanctification)

The Bible books Romans through Jude emphasize the sanctification and purification of the believer. We can put off the ‘old man’ and then choose to repeatedly put on the nature of Y’shua the Messiah (Jesus the Christ) through the work of the Holy Spirit. This is emphasized throughout these books. Part of the reason for this emphasis is to show that sanctification is connected with healing of disease. It is the lack of sanctification (sin and spiritual problems) that causes the sickness (I Thess. 4:3; 5:23; Eph. 4:20; 5:26-28; Jas. 5:14-16).

Just as each individual must appropriate salvation through trusting (faith) in Y’shua (Jesus Christ) (Jn. 3; Rom. 10; 1 Jn. 1), so must each individual appropriate their healing provided by Jesus’ stripes (scourging) through trusting (faith) in Jesus Christ (I Thess. 4:3; 5:23; Eph. 4:20; 5:26-28; Jas. 5:14-16).  This seems to be a blind spot even in the Christian church today (Jer 6:13,14; Lm. 2:14).

The plan of God is to end evil and suffering forever (Exodus 34:6-7; Matthew 13:37-43; I Corinthians 15:24-28; 1 Timothy 1:5; Revelation 21-22). The ultimate purpose of God in all His present dealings with man is to bring him back to the place where he was before the fall (beloved fellowship) and purge him of all possibility of failing in the future. “The object and purpose of our instruction and charge is that all believers would be filled with charity (love) that comes from a pure heart, and a clear conscience, and genuine trust faith.”  —1 Timothy 1:5
